Embedded Linux Software Engineer

We’re looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team to help us develop and build the best products to protect those that put themselves in harm’s way. You’ll work on designing, coding and testing embedded linux software for Company Six’s situational awareness robots.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop and Maintain C/C++ Embedded Linux Applications on a situational awareness robot
  • Develop and Maintain Shell Scripts
  • Debug issues that arise in the embedded linux kernel or drivers
  • Use Buildroot (similar to Yocto) to maintain our custom embedded linux distribution
  • Troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis
  • Work as a team using Git, Slack, and Asana

We’d be particularly delighted to hire someone who can:

  • Travel to Boulder 1-3 times per year
  • Build and maintain Gitlab CI/CD pipelines
  • Provide support for consumer electronics manufacturing processes
  • Develop bare metal firmware in C On Nordic nRF52 series chips
  • Read and interpret electronic parts datasheets, design schematics, and PCB layouts
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic rework of PCBs
  • Use lab equipment to diagnose firmware and hardware issues (oscilloscope, etc)
  • Work with power constrained systems and linux low power modes


  • 5-10 Years of experience working with embedded linux systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar or equivalent experience

Other important details:

Location: This position can be remote in the US or onsite at our beautiful Boulder Colorado office. While our headquarters is in Boulder, we have employees located in many locations throughout the world. US citizenship is required.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills and certifications. Per CO EPEW Act 2020.
